You'll never know if you don't even try

I know where I will be on the 9 Aug 10. How about you?

Finally got selected for NDP tickets after balloting for so many years and it's a pair of tickets for the actual day. Was even more surprised when I was given tickets to the blue sector, directly facing the stage.

On a side note, I realised that one should always keep trying and don't give up hope. Hope is a fragile thing and it will result in terrible disappointments when your hopes are dashed again and again.

But one just have to try again and hope for the best and will be rewarded richly when your hopes and dreams come true.

Until then one can only hope and believe.

Heat relief

The muggy heat in Singapore these few months can drive one crazy. The weather can alternate between sweltering blue-sky sunny and gloomy grey-cloud rainy within a few hours.

Well, in order to preserve my sanity, here's some of stuff I had:

 Paradise @ Haagan-Dazs, Esplanade

Scoop of Haagan-Dazs Macadamia Nut Brittle and Cappuccino Truffle over homemade brownie @ home

Homecooked Chicken and abalone porridge @ home

Durian mousse cake, Goodwood Park Hotel @ home

Vanilla ice-cream cone over hot cinnamon melts @ Macdonalds near home

Oreo McFlurry @ Macdonalds near home

Matcha and Matcha icecream @ Saboten Parco Marina

Ben & Jerry's icecream @ home

Our New toy!

Yeah! Just bought a Sony Vaio lappie....however it's only available in boring black, bleah.

With an extra laptop around, hopefully the days of waiting for my turn after Superman's will be over soon. Maybe I will blog more often then ;p

Older and wiser

When we were young, we were told to study hard to get good grades and things will be fine in our adult life. Fortunately, reasonably good grades are achievable for me so long as I study hard enough. I am ashamed to say that naive old me will sometimes wonder why some people cannot get good grades (just study harder lah, I used to think).

However, as I hit adulthood, I realised that things are not so simple.

Good grades are not everything.

Trying and working hard for something doesn't necessarily mean that you will attain it.

Efforts put in is not equal to results achieved.

Some things are simply not within your control, there's only so much one can do.

Goodbye to rose tinted glasses...

Durian Indulgence

Do not be fooled by this nondiscript box....

Inside lies a cake...

From...
I present to you...the legendary Durian Mousse Cake from Goodwood Park Hotel!

Named as one of the top 50 most yummy cakes in Singapore, I couldn't resist buying one when Superman alerted to me their promotion at the malls. With credit card promotions of 15% off, it's still a hefty with $44.20 for a 1.3kg cake(Usual price: $52).

But heck, I figured having heard so much about this cake, I should at least try some and share with family members.

The cake is about 6 cm tall, and 18 cm wide.

Filled with pure D24 durian pulp(detected some fibres), sandwiched between vanilla sponge cake, topped with cottony soft sponge cubes and dusted with some icing sugar, the cake a absolute delight! The cake is rich and not overly sweet. What I like also is that there's no cream on this cake to distract from the interplay of light vanilla sponge and pure creamy durian mousse.

This is the most awesome durian cake I have so far!
